I'm so fickle....

Now I think this is the camera that I want. The Canon SX200 IS. It's got almost everything an SLR has, but in mini form. Maybe it doesn't have everything a DSLR would, but it's probably smaller than my crappy camera now. One hitch? It's not released yet.... There's no reviews yet...

Supposedly it was supposed to come out at the end of this month. But every website I look at says 'temporarily out of stock'. IT'S MARCH 31st!!!! The month is over. Waaaa... what do I do???? Well, anyway, this is the runner up: Canon Powershot SX10 IS

  2. That is a good review, thanks!

So.... what would you do? I like the idea of the compact camera, just cause the majority of my photography is taken while traveling. When I walk around with expencive equipment around my neck, I tend to feel like a moving target for anyone who might want to rip me off. This is something i can just stick in my pocket, and it will give me almost as much control as any dSLR can give me... at least... for the controls that I'd actually use on an SLR..

  3. You're welcome. Photographyblog.com is a pretty decent site for photo gear.

Well, I bought the Panasonic DMC-LX3 a few months ago for my upcoming move to Korea. It's small enough to put in a pocket, but still gives me the EXCELLENT image quality that I want. Plus, it has RAW capability. Then, I figured why not get a DSLR, too. So, I just bough the Canon XSi (450D). Not even a week later, Canon announces the new Canon T1i (500D)! In this case, as preliminary previews of the new T1i are already EXCELLENT, I would have gotten that. But, I will stick to my LX3 and XSi now and will until they die. The image quality is that good on both that I should not need to trade up unless there is a revolutionary increase in image quality for the foreseeable future. And, that type of improvement does not happen. It's little by little they improve.

That is what I just did. Your situation might be different.

I also keep my DSLR in a mini backpack when not in use. It's so small that no one would even suspect it has a camera in it. I don't like it slung around my neck either. It's either in my hand, or in the backpack. The small camera fits a belt case. Easy to take in and out. Unobtrusive, too.
